The Concept of Payments by Phone

The last two decades saw remarkable achievements in the field of cellular technology. What can’t you do with our cell phone today? You can capture photos, play and record videos or browse the internet besides the common tasks of messaging and calling. The traditional features of messaging have lead to the method of payments by phone. Up till now it is the simplest method for making a payment online. It can be done through any make or model of phone for the payment process.
Mobile phones now act as point of sale terminals for buying goods while paying through them. This is just another movement towards payments by phone replacing cash, checks, and credit and debit cards.
The payment is done as soon as the bank verifies the person who is making the payment. Thus the payment gets done by verification and in a very short time. Payment services like PayPal have been functional for a long time now and work on the similar method of payments by phone. However, this method is costlier at times as it involves several parties to make payments.
This method gives the trader or the online dealer to choose the fee from the customer; whether he charges all the fees and network charges to the customer, or keeps the usual commission for the traders, it’s up to him.
Despite the high cost, the payment by phone method has become immensely popular as the easiest way of making online payments. Moreover, companies offering this mode of payment have increased sales of around more than 20% in 2010 which is an indication of how rapidly people are adopting the idea.
